Summary
A musical box in a varnished wooden case with a hinged lid (circa 1880). The lid has a printed panel containing a design of leaves round an urn. It has an inlaid rectangle below the keyhole on the front. Inside there are three sections. On the left a storage compartment now empty, where there is a large winding lever. In the centre is a glass lid below which can be seen the clockwork mechanism and a brass cylinder bearing spikes which moves past a row of steel teeth. Behind are two small crinoline dolls and 3 butterflies each with a metal bell. On the right are two levers, one for 'Play/Stop' and the other for 'Change/Repeat'. A label is fixed inside the lid with drawing pins. Stamped in ink and hand written in ink on the label inside the lid is 'Dolls/Bells In View [236] - 1907. 1. Edward VII Grand Triumphal March, 2.
