Oil painting on canvas, Margaret Onley by John Michael Wright (London 1617 - London 1694), circa 1660. A three-quarter-length portrait of a woman, turned slightly to the right, head partially turned to the left, gazing at the spectator. Mother of Margaret Onley and the first wife of George Vernon (builder of the house). Considered a pair with the three quarter length portrait of Edward Onley.

Vernon collection transferred to the Treasury in 1967 following death of 9th Lord Vernon, and transferred to The National Trust in 1967
