Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Lady Anne Vernon, née Weston, (d.1702), attributed John Riley (London 1646 – London 1691). A three-quarter-length portrait of a young woman, daughter of Henry Weston of Ockham, Surrey, seated, turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, her left hand raised to her shoulder holding a fold of her cloak her right hand in her lap, she had short dark-brown curly hair and is dressed in a blue decollete dress over a white chemise with long sleeves and a green underdress. On the left behind her is a column and a pink drape falls just behind her figure, a landscape can be seen on the right. Anne was the wife of Sir Thomas Vernon, mother of George Vernon's third wife, Catherine. Thomas Vernon married Anne, the eldest daughter of Henry Weston of Ockham, Surrey, in December 1660.

Acquired from 10th Lord Vernon in lieu of death-duties after the death of Francis Lawrence William Venables-Vernon, 9th Lord Vernon (1889 -1963) and transferred to the National Trust in 1967 through the National Land Fund
