Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Edward Onley of Catesby, Northants; father of Margaret, who was George Vernon's (builder of the house) first wife. Shown in three quarter length he is turned to the left facing front, in black dress with dark cloak and white collar, holding a glove in his left hand, his right hand on hip, in a landscape. A four inch deep gilt moulded frame, the outside edge decorated with a band of shallow dentil motif. By John Michael Wright, c.1660.

Acquired from 10th Lord Vernon in lieu of death-duties after the death of Francis Lawrence William Venables-Vernon, 9th Lord Vernon (1889 -1963) and transferred to the National Trust in 1967 through the National Land Fund
