Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir William Yonge, 4th Bt (c.1693-1755) by John Vanderbank the younger (London 1694 - London 1739), middle right: "Jno. Vanderbank", circa 1737. A full-length portrait, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, dressed in the robes of the Order of the Bath, a table/desk on the left, on which is a piece of paper with the sitter’s name (almost obliterated), architectural background of niches (with pentimenti of arches). Brother-in-law of George Venables Vernon the 1st Lord Vernon. Sir William married Ann Howard the older sister of Mary Howard, 1st Lord Vernon's first wife.

Vernon collection transferred to the Treasury in 1967 following death of 9th Lord Vernon, and transferred to The National Trust in 1967
