Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Equestrian Portrait of Sir Ralph Gore, 6th Bt, later Earl of Ross (1725-?1802) on his Bay Hunter in a Verdant Landscape, attributed to Thomas Spencer (1702 - 1753), probably the grounds of Belle Isle. Lord Ross, dressed in a red waistcoat, blue overcoat, white stock, fawn breeches, top-boots, tricorn hat, and yellow gloves, sits on his saddle over a grey and yellow check blanket, on his bay hunter (with docked tail), pacing to the left, holding the reins with his left hand and a whip in his right, in a green treed and meadowed landscape, with hills in the distance. Framed en suite with manuscript nos 17, 43, 44.
