Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Elizabeth Elton, Mrs George Forster (1716-after 1790) by British / English School, circa 1725-35. Bears inscription with a different sitters name, upper left: Caroline, daughter of Charles Yate Esq. Married Captain Jacob Elton. A portrait of a young woman, three-quarter length, seated, facing, gazing at spectator, her left arm resting on a table her right hand in her lap gesturing to the right. She has dark brown hair, falling in ringlets on her left shoulder and is wearing a reddish/brown silk wrap-around dress with small grey silk collar and a dark blue shawl draped over her left arm and across her lap. There is a distant view through a window on the left and a large drape behind her on the right. Daughter of Sir Abraham Elton 2nd Bt MP (1679-1742) and Abigail Bayly; married Captain George Forster.
