Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir John Durbin (1734-1814) by Nathaniel Hone I RA (1718-1784), signed with initials and dated 1757. Inscription...... A portrait of Sir John Durbin as a young man, half-length, turned to right, gazing at spectator, his left hand tucked into his waistcoat, his tricone hat tucked under his left arm. He has a short powdered wig tied at the back with a black ribbon, and wears a strawberry coloured coat and waistcoat, simple white stock, frilled shirt at neck and sleeve Married (i) Elizabeth Collett (1737-1759), parents of Eliza Durbin, 1st wife of The Rev.
