Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Laurence Hyde, 1st Earl of Rochester (1641-1711), in Garter Robes, Willem Wissing (Amsterdam 1656 - Burghley House 1687) and studio, circa 1685. A three-quarter-length portrait of the 1st Earl of Rochester, facing and wearing garter robes and lace cravat, his Treasurer's wand held in his left hand. Original of this much-repeated portrait is possibly in the Holburne of Menstrie Museum Bath.
