Summary
Louis XVI period striking mantel clock by Pierre Gregson, circa 1790. White marble base. Case mounted with chased ormolu plaques, surmounted by an eagle, with seated bronze figures reading on either side. Circular convex white enamel dial with Arabic hour numerals. Concentric hands.
Provenance
Believed to be the 3rd Lord Berwick collection. William Noel-Hill, 3rd Baron Berwick (1773-1842). By descent, Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
