Summary
A woman's gilet made from eau de nil silk foulard. The neckline, shoulders and bib are decorated with a shawl collar of cream cotton lace which gathers centre front to form a jabot. Black velvet ribbon has been used as edging and as two lines of insertion on the collar, tying centre front. The back of the gilet is made from white cotton poplin, which has also been used to line the gilet front. The bodice fastens with eight brass hook and eye fastenings, one missing.
