Summary
Sampler, undated, mid to late seventeenth century. Linen embroidered with coloured silks, silver and silver-gilt threads using rococo, tent, double-running, raised plaited braid and interlaced stitches with pulled work. Unusual spot sampler of five blocks of repeating patterns and two borders incorporating stylized flower heads within diapers and strapwork. Selvedge top; other edges hemmed.
