Summary
Sampler, undated, mid to late seventeenth century. Linen embroidered with silk and silver threads using tent, rococo, double-running, Gobelin and raised plaited braid stitches. Geometric repeating patterns in lower half including obelisk and heart design and several others also seen in No. 18. Flower and animal motifs in top half of which, apart from two flower sprays, all are drawn but unworked. All edges hemmed but blue strip at lower edge indicates selvedge.
