Summary
17th century pictorial embroidery, with raised work worked on satin ground, mica windows, glazed and framed. Shows scenes from the Old Testament story of Esther, including (in the top left hand corner) the Jewish queen Esther pleading with the Persian king, Ahaseurus and (in the bottom right) the king's advisor Haman hanging from a gallows. Incidental illustrations include snails, a peacock, turkey, lion, butterfly and camel.
