An Unknown Boy as Apollo
attributed to Pieter Borsselaer (fl. London 1664 - Middleburg 1687)
Oil painting on canvas, An Unknown Boy as Apollo, attributed to Pieter Borsseler (fl. London 1664 - Middleburg 1687). A full-length portrait of a boy, standing, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, in a landscape, wearing classical dress with scarlet cloak and yellow tunic. The anatomy of his foreshortened left hand on his hip with a bow is mistaken. An absurdly painted greyhound appears on a small scale in the background.
