Oil painting on canvas, Sir John Trevelyan, 4th Bt (1734-1828) by George Romney (Dalton-in-Furness 1734 – Kendal 1802), 1784/88. Full-length portrait, wearing a red coat, white waist coat and white stockings. His left hand is resting outstretched on a plinth, and holding a hat. His right hand is on his hip.

The picture was originally at Nettlecombe, the family's earlier home in Somerset (Sir John owned Wallington for over fifty years from 1777 to 1828); acquired with assistance from the National Art Collections Fund and members of the Trevelyan family, 1991
