Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Diana Blackett, Lady Wentworth (d.1742), attributed to Philippe Mercier (Berlin 1689 – London 1760), possibly Bartholomew Dandridge (London 1691 – London c.1754), circa 1730/40. Inscribed: later (18th C), bottom left with name of sitter: Diana, dr. of 1st. Sr. Wm. Blackett/of Wallington/m.Sr. Wm. Wentworth, of Bretton. A three-quarter-length portrait of a young woman, standing turned slightly to the left by a balustrade, gazing at the spectator, wearing an amber coloured dress and holding a sprig of honeysuckle in her right hand.
