Summary
Oil painting on canvas (oval), Julia Conyers, Lady Blackett, later Lady Thompson (d.1722), British (English) School, late 17th century. Inscribed (erroneously): in yellow letters, at left: Ly. BARBARA VILLIERS./daur: of the Earl of Jersey./wife of Sr. Wm: BLACKETT; but on the reverse of unlined canvas: The second Sr. William's wife. A head-and-shoulders portrait of a young woman, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, in a low cut dress, frilled white chemise and dark grey scarf covering her head. One of a set of four oval oil paintings.
