Four full-length portraits of figures standing in a park landscape; Sir John at the right with his son beside him resting his arm on his shoulder; his wife facing him, a dog jumping up at her; his daughter, left; a statue in the background.
Provenance
The picture is mentioned in Sir George Otto Trevelyan's Ms. Diary, 1890, 'bought a picture purporting to be by Zoffany of the "Trevelyan Family" for 25, from Mr Richardson of Sudbury. Probably Sir George, his son John and their ladies'; Wallington Archive, letter from Christie's, stating that the owner sent the picture to Christie's in 1889 but it was not included in a sale and was returned; given with the property to the National Trust in 1941 by Sir Charles Philips Trevelyan, 3rd Bt (1870-1958).
