Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Maria Wilson, Lady Trevelyan (d.1852) by John Hoppner, RA (London 1758 – London 1810), circa 1800. Half-length portrait of a young woman, facing, head inclined slightly to the right, gazing slightly down and to the right, wearing a white dress with lace collar and black lace shawl. A drawing of the same sitter, probably by Henry Pierce Bone, after John Hoppner of 1801 is in the National Portrait Gallery (NPG D17585).
Provenance
Sir Percy Maryon Wilson, Bt, apparently bought by Molly, Lady Trevelyan as a replacement for a copy that is still at Wallington, in her daughter, Mrs Jennings's apartment; given with the property to the National Trust in 1941 by Sir Charles Philips Trevelyan, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1958)
