Summary
Saucer-dish, one of two, porcelain, made in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province, China, 1695-1715; decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, brown iron oxide glaze (café-au-lait) and overglaze polychrome enamels (famille verte), the inside with a stylised hibiscus blossom in a medallion, surrounded by radiating leaf-shaped panels enclosing flowers, interspersed with flower heads and leaves, rim with hatched border; the exterior with the café-au-lait ground, and similar enamelled design, marked with a chrysanthemum in a medallion in underglaze blue on the base.
