Summary
Oil painting on canvas, William Dutton (before 1640 - 1674/5) as a Young Man, style of Robert Walker, circa 1655. A half-length portrait of William Dutton who was said to betrothed to the daughter of Oliver Cromwell. He was the nephew and heir of 'Crump' Dutton.[Thomas Russell, first husband of Mary Scudamore who married William Dutton?] He is standing in an interior with a stone wall behind on the right and a landscape beyond, out of a window, on the right. He is holding a pair of gloves in his left hand and has a mourning band with a jewel in the centre around the left wrist.

Bequest of Charles Dutton, 7th Baron Sherborne (1911 – 1982), along with the rest of the Sherborne Estate, to the National Trust in 1982
