Summary
Oil painting on canvas, The Three Daughters of The Reverend Sir Herbert Croft, 5th Bt (1748-1816) as Cherubim, possibly Lemuel Francis Abbott (Leicestershire 1760-London 1803), in the manner of Reynolds, circa 1790. Sir Herbert Croft's daughters were Sophia (1781-1857), Mary-Anne (1785-1859) and Elizabeth (1787-1854). Possibly the painting referred to in a letter from Sir Herbert Croft to Dawson Turner, circa January 1800 (Trinity College Library, Cambridge, Correspondence of Dawson Turner, O.13.1, No.113). Croft writes 'The picture of my children 5 or 6 years ago, but very like still, I sent, this morning; for you & Mrs T. to see.' (i.e. Mary Dawson Turner (1774-1850), wife of Dawson Turner).
