Oil painting on canvas, Sir Archer Croft, 3rd Bt (1731 - 1790), British (English) School, circa 1755, previously attributed to Francis Cotes RA (London 1726 – London 1770. A half-length portrait to right in brown coat and gold frogged blue waistcoat, his hat tricorn under his left arm; as a youngish man, with his own black hair.
Provenance
Loaned to The National Trust by Michael Henry Glendower Page Croft, 2nd Baron (1916-1997) circa 1960; accepted by HM Government in Lieu of Inheritance Tax from the estate of Michael Henry Glendower Page Croft and allocated to The National Trust for display at Croft Castle in 2004.
