Summary
Oval oil painting on canvas, Colonel George Lucy (1665/66 -1721) by John Closterman (Osnabrück 1660 – London 1711), 1700s. An oval half-length portrait of a gentleman, he is sitting towards the right and looking towards the viewer. He is wearing a red cloak with white cravat and has long, shoulder length hair. Framed in an oval gilt frame. Colonel George Lucy succeeded his brother, Davenport Lucy 1659-1690, in inheriting the Charlecote estate. In 1697 he married Mary Bohun (533826), and following her death he married her cousin, Jane Bohun (533828) in 1712. Colonel George Lucy was responsible for installing the grand staircase, window, panelling and stud partition as well as a new minstrels gallery. He also bought the lead shepherd and shepherdess in the Green court (533387). Appears with his family in the view of Charlecote in 1696 (533889).

Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946
