Summary
Oil painting on canvas, The Reverend John Hammond II, British (English) School, circa 1730/40. A half-length painted oval portrait of The Reverend John Hammond II, he is positioned to left, looking towards the viewer. He wears clerical dress and a white, shoulder-length wig John Hammond II was the Rector of Gawsworth, Cheshire and he married Alice, second daughter of Sir Fulke Lucy. Their Great Grandson, George Hammond Lucy, succeeded to Charlecote in 1786. Framed in large rectangular gilt frame.
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946
