Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A Cavalry Officer with his Horse, attributed to Sir Robert Ker Porter (1777 - 1842), 1791. A full-length portrait of a cavalry officer, with his horse; standing, turned slightly to the left, gazing to the left, in full regimental uniform, red tail-coat, with black and gold facings to collar, cream cross-belts black stock, white cravat, white buckskins and knee-high black boots, a black cocked hat on his head edged with gold braid and a red plume at the back; his right hand on his chest, his left hand slightly behind his hip holding his sword, a black horse at his side on the left; hazy brown and cream background.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
