Summary
Oil painting on canvas, The Pool of London by Night, by John Thomas Serres (London 1759 – London 1825), signed J.T. Serres. The River Thames – the Pool of London by moonlight, with the embankment on the left, the Tower of London in the centre, two sailing vessels with full sail on the left, a rowing boat in the centre, and shipping on the right. From a position in front of the Tower stretching to the far right, is a row of docked masted ships. Full moon in the sky on the right, clouds.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
