Summary
Oil painting on canvas, View of Windsor Castle from the River by James Baker Pyne (Bristol 1800 – London 1870). Windsor rising from the river in mist, sun breaking through, two fishermen and two swans on far bank. Gilt frame, labelled 'Windsor Castle, J.B. Pyne'. This may be related to a large picture (4ft 2in x 5 ft 8 in) Windsor from the Thames which Pyne exhibited at the British Institution in 1837 (no.16) [information supplied by Martin Hopkinson].
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
