Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A Sportsman and his Dog by Philip Reinagle RA (Scotland 1749 – Chelsea 1833). Rough-coated white pointer, standing to the right, turned to the left, pointing at pheasant on the left in some foliage, behind the dog and dissecting the painting in half is a rough wooden fence, with foliage growing against it, behind the fence on the right is a huntsman, wearing buff coat, top hat and carrying a gun. Blue sky and clouds.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
