Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Windsor Castle from the North by Johannes Vorsterman (Zalt-Bommel 1643 - ?Constantinople 1686 or after) and Jan Wyck (Haarlem c.1645 - Mortlake 1700) or Jan Griffier the elder (Amsterdam c.1645 - London 1718), circa 1680. Landscape in which the river winds from bridge to right foreground where there are barges and grouped figures.Windsor Castle is seen against a cloudy blue sky with cottages, groups of figures and two horsemen emerge from the trees left and 2 dogs are running in the left foreground.
Provenance
Date of acquisition unknown. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
