Summary
This item is a fluted barrel shaped tea caddy in a 'Fluted Barrel' / 'Royal Flute' shape, Chamberlain decorated. It is painted with gilt cellular and foliate swag border around shoulders separated by turquoise enamel band, repeated around edge to cover. The pattern is known as Turquoise Border. The item is complete with a matching cover (509493.2). Made circa 1775 - 1799 by Caughley Porcelain Works.
Provenance
Made in Shropshire circa 1775 - 1799. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 – 1992). Accepted in lieu of tax by H.M. Government in March 1993 following the death of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall in 1992 and allocated to The National Trust for display at Benthall Hall.
