Summary
Circular saucer to teacup with moulded rim and shaped edge. French-style festoons incorporating rose-heads, slight sprig at the centre, gilt dentil edge. Paired with 509463.1 which has own record. Inscribed with “CAUGHLEY BICENTENARY SHREWSBURY 1772-1972” on a gold printed label on the underside. A red sticker with “265” on it is on top of the gold sticker. Made circa 1775 - 1799 by the Caughley Porcelain Works.
Provenance
Made in Shropshire circa 1775 - 1799. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 – 1992). Accepted in lieu of tax by H.M. Government in March 1993 following the death of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall in 1992 and allocated to the National Trust for display at Benthall Hall.
