Summary
Print, line engraving, Admiral Edward Russell, 1st Earl of Orford (1653-1727) (after Sir Godfrey Kneller) by Jacobus Houbraken (Dordrecht 1698 - Amsterdam 1780). 1742. One of a set of ten engravings depicting notable seventeenth century figures. Half-length portrait, in an oval; body facing right. Man with a long curled white wig, wearing a lace neck tie and a jacket. Framed by a cartouche decorated with a tassle, fabric and plinth underneath with pictures of gallons. Inscribed with 'EDWARD RUSSEL EARL OF ORFORD'.
