Summary
Print, line engraving, Sir William Morice, 1st Bt (1602-1676) by Jacobus Houbraken (Dordrecht 1698 - Amsterdam 1780). 1747. One of a set of ten engravings depicting notable seventeenth century figures. Half-length portrait framed by a cartouche with swathes of fabric as a border, with a stone plinth underneath with central cartouche surrounded by foliage. Middle-aged man wearing a long curly wig facing slightly left, with jacket revealing a silk shirt with large embroidered collar. Inscribed with 'Sr. WILLIAM MORICE Secretary of State to King Charles II'.
