Summary
Oil painting on canvas, King Charles II (1630-1685), after Sir Peter Lely (Soest 1618 – London 1680). A three-quarter-length portrait, seated, his body facing left, his head facing the viewer. Wearing a long black curled wig and a green velvet cloak lined with red satin; at the shoulder is a gold braid with three ribbons set with rubies. The cloak reveals a white shirt with lace collar and his right hand rests on his lap, his left on the head of a staff.
