Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Piers Legh (1631-1671) by the Master J.H. (fl.1647-1666). A three-quarter length portrait, of a man turned slightly to the left, standing, facing, gazing at the spectator, his left hand on his sword-hilt his right hand resting on his visored helmet. He is in a long dark wig and wears full armour with gilt belt hanger, gilt sword and white knotted neckcloth. The cloth wall of a campaign tent (?) behind him and to the left in the middle distance a small troop of cavalry, in a landscape.
