Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Anne Master, Countess of Coventry (1690-1788), attributed to Hans Hysing (1678–1753), 1715. A full-length portrait of a young woman, standing, head facing, and inclined slightly to the left, gazing at spectator, with brown shoulder-length hair, wearing peeress's robes and a coronet. She stands in a room with an arch behind, through which a landscape can be seen. A white embroidered dress with multi-fringed gold bands, a velvet crimson bodice with low neck and lace edging, three-quarter length sleeves trimmed with gold and with lace ruffles, crimson cloak; bodice, sleeves and cloak trimmed with ermine. Long gold rope tied at the waist, the right hand holds her cloak, while her left hand rests on a green covered table, on which lies a pair of gloves trimmed with gold brain. Interior with archway on the left and a landscape beyond.
