Oil painting on panel, An Unknown Man converted into Sir Thomas Coventry, 1st Baron Coventry of Aylesborough (1578-1640), British (English) School, early 17th century. A head-and-shooulders portrait of an elderly gentleman, turned to left, nearly facing, gazing at the spectator, with pointed grey beard, wearing a high, black, brimmed hat, ruff and black jerkin with capped shoulders piped with gold. Would-be Royal Arms of Stuart kings of England embroidered on crimson purse (?) concealing right shoulder.
