Summary
A late seventeenth century, English, walnut, oak and marquetry longcase clock; made by Thomas Lodge. Flat top hood with barley twist columns to each corner and marquetry design of flowers around dial plate with glazed front and sides. Trunk with oyster veneered sides and moulded door panel with marquetry and central pendulum lenticle. Three oval panels of marquetry to door with floral and scrolling foliage design; central panel also has a bird and dense floral design at base of the case. Square brass dial with winged cherub spandrels, silvered brass chapter ring with Roman numerals and Arabic five minutes. Seconds dial and engraved square calendar aperture in dial centre. Blue steel hands with pierced decoration flanked by two winding holes.
