Summary
A wall mounted clock in oak with curved hood and semi-circular carving to the two top corners; pierced frets around the hood. Pierced sides with foliage design and inset moulded columns with carved decoration. Base is decorated with a carved design of foliage and tapers downwards towards a rectangular box with pendulum lenticle; decorated with inlaid geometric pattern and feather banding. Square dial plate painted with gold Roman numerals and Arabic five minute figures. Gold painted spandrels with tendrils to each corner; plain gold painted hands with the hour hand terminating in a heart.
Provenance
Original to the house. Listed in the 1879 Inventory under Servants' Hall 'Clock-very old in antique carved oakcase' and listed in the 1929 Inventory under Servants' Hall 'An antique Parliamentary Dial in richly carved oak case having shaped pediment, japanned and gilt dial and inlaid pendulum case with star cut panel and fret side panels (7ft 6ins high)'.
