Oil painting on canvas, King Frederick I of Bohemia (1596-1632), after Gerrit van Honthorst (1590-1656), early to mid-17th century. Inscribed in gold lettering, top left: King of Bohemia. A head-and-shoulders portrait to right, wearing armour with large lace collar and the order of the St Esprit.
Provenance
Acquired at the auction of the Craven Collection at Sotheby's in 1968. Accepted by HM Government in lieu of inheritance tax and allocated to the National Trust for display at Ashdown House, 1968.
