Oil painting on canvas, Lady Elizabeth Percy, Countess of Ogle, later Duchess of Somerset (1667-1722) and Algernon, later 7th Duke of Somerset (1684 - 1750) as 'Madonna and Child' (after Van Dyck), attributed to Mary Beale (Barrow 1633 – London 1699), circa 1685. A three-quarter length portrait of a young woman, seated turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, with a child seated on her lap, the child's head against her breast; she is wearing a red dress with a white wrap.
