Caption
This view of Dyrham Park shows the west front of the house, designed by the French Huguenot architect, Samuel Hauduroy, and built between 1692 and 1694. The tower of St Peter’s Church can be seen above the trees. The west front of Dyrham was one of the first parts of the house to be transformed by William I Blathwayt (?1649–1717) after he inherited the property on his marriage in 1686 to Mary Wynter (1650–1691). We do not know who painted this small view of Dyrham from the gardens, but it probably dates from the mid-nineteenth century.
