Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Possibly Elizabeth Clark, Mrs Le Pepre, Mrs William III Blathwayt, attributed to John Astley (Wem 1724 - Cheshire 1787), circa 1760-80. A three-quarter-length portrait, thought to represent Elizabeth Clark, the second wife of William III Blathwayt (1719 - 1787), who had married Mr Le Pepre as her first husband before marrying into the Blathwayt family. She is shown turned slightly to the right, her head facing the viewer, in a painted oval. Wearing a copper-coloured dress decorated with blue-green ribbons and pearls, over a white chemise, she also wears pearls in her brown hair.

Indigenous collection purchased by Ministry of Works in 1956 and given to Dyrham Park in 1961
