Summary

Oil painting on canvas, Turkey, Geese, Shelduck, and other Fowl, in a Landscape with a Stream, by Melchior de Hondecoeter (Utrecht 1636 – Amsterdam 1695). One goose stands on the bank of a stream, while another sleeps behind it and a third is in the water below with goslings. Other ducks are on the bank in the foreground, and a shelduck can be seen in the middle ground. A turkey peers in from the left, and another bird flies down from the top right. A large expanse of water stretches away in the left background.

Provenance

Purchased by the Ministry of Works through the National Land Fund and transferred to the National Trust for Dyrham Park in 1956.
