Summary
Figure of 'Guanyin (Kuan Yin), of the Southern Seas, Protector of the Mariners', porcelain, moulded, identified by the dragon leaping over a waterfall on the base of the figure, appropriate to the maritime province of Fujian, where the figure was made in the Dehua kilns, 1650-1700. Damaged. One of two large seated figures (452185). Historically, this type of white ware was also known as 'blanc de Chine'.
Provenance
Indigenous collection purchased by Ministry of Works in 1956 and given to Dyrham Park in 1961.
