Oil painting on walnut panel, The Head of a Girl by Jean-Baptiste Grueze (1725-1805), circa 1786/94. A head-and-shoulders portrait of a young girl turned to the right, head turned to left, looking upwards and over her right shoulder; her hair falls over her shoulders and she wears a loose white shift with mauve cloak across her arms.

Given with Upton House to the National Trust by Walter Samuel, 2nd Viscount Bearsted (1882 – 1948) shortly before his death
