Oil painting on oak panel, The Madonna and Child, follower of Rogier van der Weyden (Tournai c.1399 – Brussels 1464). The Madonna, half length, wearing a blue robe and blue and white headdress, holds the naked Child against her right shoulder, in his left hand He holds an apple on his knee. The background is formed by a red curtain.

Given with Upton House to the National Trust by Walter Samuel, 2nd Viscount Bearsted (1882 – 1948), in 1948, shortly before his death
