Summary
Oil painting on panel, A Country Road by Guillam Dubois (c.1610-1680), signed mid-bottom right [in an unconvincing position]: SVR (VR in monogram), 1636. A sunlit landscape with a rough road lined with trees, at the corner of which three figures are conversing; a peasant and peasant woman are resting by a bank in the foreground and to the right is a cottage among trees; a town in the distance, left. 1650.

Owned by Lord Bearsted in London by 1931;given with Upton House to the National Trust by Walter Samuel, 2nd Viscount Bearsted (1882 – 1948), in 1948, shortly before his death
